VENDOR SPOTLIGHT // MARSHA'S FLORALS
A long-standing name in Niagara's floral design industry, Marsha's Florals is our Swish List spotlight feature vendor today!
A short description of what you do: Ours is a floral design studio established in 1990 and dedicated to weddings and special events in the Niagara Peninsula.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? Over 25 years.
What makes your business unique? Unwavering attention to detail makes my business unique. My style is full, fresh and natural with full service providing gorgeous flowers for the bride and her wedding party, the ceremony and the reception. I am able to work within any budget.
Favourite part of your business? Understanding, handling and caring for the flowers is sublime.
What inspires you? Shape, colour, and texture of the blooms inspire me.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry (your own industry or the Niagara wedding industry)? There have been many over the years. Twenty-five years ago Martha Stewart was a God. I will say that Kalin Falconer of Bloom and Co. is an immensely talented and creative force.
On your day off...where would we find you? In fair weather I will be on the golf course, in capris, swinging the Calloways.
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I did have a past life of an interior designer, I would embrace that vocation again.
What are great wedding trends you seeing this year? Loose lush bouquets (lots of coral, peach, ranunculus, roses, and peonies - hopelessly romantic) are trending but the bouquets and arrangements are slightly more controlled and less "wild" this year. Still a strong trend to decorating with green garland (as table runners and screening backdrops).
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Allow themselves to be guided by wedding professionals. The trend is to take as many ideas from Pinterest and Instagram for wedding decor and details. Much of the design and material in these ideas are not specific to the Niagara Peninsula and may not "come off" as stunning as a photo shoot on Pinterest.
