A beautiful summery day last June, Maggie and Brett exchanged “I dos” in rural Guelph, ON, with stunning photos by Artiese Studios and planning / styling by our very own Swish Lister - Laura Olsen.

The couple, who live in New York City, held their wedding celebrations at Maggie’s parents’ beautiful 150-acre property: a family farm that’s home to lamas, alpacas, an apiary, and beautiful ponds. Many of the wedding guests were from out-of-town, and had never been to Canada, therefore it was very important for Maggie and Brett to have a local-inspired wedding. The couple provided local craft beer and wine, and a farm-to-table meal; wedding favours were little glass jars of honey made from the property’s honeybees, and the centerpieces, along with hanging arches decorating the outdoor reception area. were foraged that morning– it doesn’t get any more local than that!

Foregoing the traditional seated ceremony, a friend of the bride and groom built a gorgeous birch tepee and two long benches for immediate families, while leaving plenty of standing space for the bride and groom to be surrounded by love from family and friends. Added touches of fresh flowers and greenery created a wild whimsical vibe for this outdoor ceremony.

Following the ceremony, guests hopped on a golf-cart to visit the animals, and on return, were greeted with prosecco popsicles. Before dinner, lawn games were played, and guests lounged on the swing seat and outdoor furniture. Celebrations lasted well into the night, and at midnight a funfetti cake was served to celebrate the groom’s birthday.
