Today we have a guest blog post from our friends and Swish List members of The Southridge Jam Company! Our relationship with the amazing people who make up this organization has become very special to us, and we think that they are doing very special work!

First comes the shock and awe of the proposal, then a decision about the wedding date, followed by more questions and choices, plans, and checklists. Whether you are having a massive wedding with a professional wedding planner or a smaller DIY wedding, you may start thinking about wedding favours once all the bigger decisions have been made.
At the Southridge Jam Company, we have been working with brides and grooms-to-be since 2016 to help make their wedding favour decisions simple. We are a social enterprise in the Niagara Region, with an optimistic goal to disrupt the cycle of homelessness. To do that, we make and sell small-batch artisan preserves in four different flavours (peach, strawberry, sour cherry and grape jelly). Our jams are made right here in our Jam Company kitchen in Vineland, Ontario with local fruit, many of which have been donated by generous local farmers over the years.
Our team is made up of volunteers and a group of incredible individuals who are transitioning out of homelessness. When they join our jam team in the kitchen each week, they are gaining job skills, resume experience and a supportive community of friends to help them move forward in the next chapter of their lives. When you purchase our jams, you aren’t just buying jars of jam, you are buying jars of hope and making an investment in people who are working hard towards a brighter future.
Many of our wedding couples contact us because they may have attended a wedding and received a jar of Southridge jam or heard about our story and our mission and want to create a unique experience for their own guests. They want to celebrate their special day and make a difference. They want to help make the world a better place and need an easy way to get started. They want a wedding favour that their guests will remember on their special day, something that has purpose. We understand that choosing something useful and special, something you would want to receive, something that won’t be left behind after your wedding or tossed out the next day, is the way to go and we can help with that. We have found that many couples choose to mix and match flavours, but some choose one jam based on their colour scheme or personal flavour preference.
Our wedding favour jams are sold in cases of twelve with our 125ml jar being the popular size. Each jar will have our standard label and a tag with our story so your guests will understand why you chose this gift for them.
