Today we have the chance to chat a little more with Lianne, the lovely owner and lead artist of The Bridal Glam Co! Lianne is a wonderful soul with immense talent and we are thrilled to have her as part of the Swish List.
A short description of what you do: We are a curated team of pro makeup artists and hairstylists, with a passion for creating beauty, and a love for the bridal industry.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? 7 years, but some of the artists on my team have been in the industry for almost 20 years!
What makes your business unique? We offer a luxury bridal beauty service for our clients. Premium mink lashes and hydrating eye masks are included complimentary for all of our brides, and we exclusively use high-end professional products. We also schedule additional time for the bride's service, to ensure she has proper attention, and every detail is perfect.
Favourite part of your business? Creating beauty! We love giving people a boost of confidence, and showing them just how beautiful they are. Also, since we have the pleasure of meeting new people at every wedding we work on, no two days are the same, and we love learning each and every bride's unique love story.
What inspires you? I really find inspiration in so many places. I love art in all forms. Often what other artists are creating is very inspiring. I also love to follow current beauty & fashion trends, and celebrity glam icons (both past and present).
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? There are so many it's hard to pick just one! The many successful female business leaders in our community motivate me to keep going with my own business, even when things get challenging.
On your day off...where would we find you? With my two girls, aged 5 and 2. They keep me busy, and are so fascinated with makeup I usually end up in my studio being their makeup model or doing their makeup!
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I really love interior design, so I would probably have gotten into that field, but whatever it is it would have to be something creative! I’ve done the corporate office job and it's just not for me.
What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? Well, hoping weddings can actually take place... I would say the biggest trend for this year (carrying on from last year) is 'intimate'. Covid-19 has really thrown the wedding industry off in more ways than one, but the steady trend we are seeing now is small, intimate weddings. This doesn't have to be a bad thing, however, and we are seeing couples putting more emphasis on creating very personalized and meaningful ceremonies and receptions that reflect their personality and style. I anticipate bridal hair and makeup trends will continue to be on the more natural side, and many brides are requesting our signature "natural glam" style. Even if a bride isn't choosing a bright or bold makeup look, we are seeing fun and fancy hair accessories from sparkly combs to pearly and floral headpieces which make their look unique.
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Don't leave choosing your hair and makeup team as an afterthought. We are booking up to 18 months in advance, with some requests coming up to 2 years out, and I don't love having to tell potential clients we are fully booked for their day. The way you look on your wedding day will directly affect how you feel, so you want to make sure you are working with an artist who listens to you, and can create a bridal beauty look that fits your vision while making you feel your best! Finally, ensure you do your research and choose a team of artists who have proper safety training and follow strict sanitation protocols.
