COVID-19 has impacted our lives more than we ever thought possible. As time goes on it shaped a new way for us to operate our businesses, and our daily lives.
COVID-19 has impacted our lives more than we ever thought possible. As time goes on it shaped a new way for us to operate our businesses, and our daily lives.
Now that September is here, and the school year is approaching, times are going to shift again as a lot of people navigate through running a business and choosing to send their children back to school, distance learning, or homeschool.
Which brings us to a big shift over here at HQ. We are sad to announce that Sara Wilde will be leaving the business in order to stay home with her daughter full time, and navigate her photography, graphic design business and the choice to homeschool. She will continue to work at arms length for us here at Vineyard Bride through her design company. We thank her for all of her hard work, companionship, and contributions to Vineyard Bride.
We have always strived to innovate our business to benefit our members and our latest endeavour has been The Wed Series - an option to couples looking for a turn-key way to tie the knot. This is available to Swish List members to partake in, which can instantly bring you additional exposure and revenue.
This will be an ongoing new initiative that we will continue to add to our calendar as we keep getting requests for new dates daily. As of current it is exclusive to Swish List venues, florists, photographers, officiants, musicians, and dessert companies, however we are looking to expand to cover more categories. As always, we are open to your feedback and ideas to implement for the future.
If you are a wedding vendor interested in partaking in the next WedSeries, please apply below.
We wish you all a safe start to the fall 2020 event season and back to school transitions.

Vendor Spotlight: Made by Anatomy
"Anatomy allows the bride to envision, inspire, and embody the dress of her dreams. She can choose the fabric and color, adjust sleeve length, alter the neckline, and add embellishments. It's made to measure just for her. We also take family heirloom dresses and alter them to give them a new for our brides!"

COVID-19 WEDDING Q&A STATISTICS
If you follow us on Instagram you may have seen a series of polls we were running over the last few weeks. We prompted our engaged followers to share if or how Covid-19 has affected the status of their wedding, with the hopes that the responses would provide some insight for other couples who are struggling with how to move forward with their plans. The results were interesting, informative and, overall positive — take a look for yourself!

Our intention for Vineyard Bride has always been to provide a space of beauty, celebration, inspiration, resources, and most importantly, love. We vow to continue the work to acknowledge all of our readers and vendors until everyone is met with an equal sense of welcoming and worth.
We have taken this precious time in history to quietly look inward and to unlearn much of what we thought previously to be acceptable, in order to make space to learn the lesson being taught. We are watching and listening to the stories, reading the literature, reflecting on our past processes, and having critical conversations about how our future can be even more inclusive, diverse, approachable, and inspiring than ever before.

Preparing for Reopening
It's been a wild ride and the future feels hopeful if we continue to be safe! As the world prepares to slowly open up, we thought we would share a few things to keep in mind that could be helpful as we enter into our 'new normal'.
Communication has never been more key than it is right now, so taking the time to touch base with your clients is not only a valuable way to serve them, but also to provide reassurance that they are on your mind and that you are thinking of them. It's a strange and stressful time and the gesture can be very comforting.
The same can be applied to any vendors you are working with on future projects, as it's a great way to stay connected and inspired in the time leading up. Take this opportunity to discuss with your fellow industry professionals how they plan to return to business and what differences you and your clients can expect in regards to things like hours of operation, staffing changes, or availability of products and services.
With the return of beautiful weather, family and engagement sessions are a great
way to begin working with clients again from a safe and responsible distance, so if you happen to be a photographer or hair + makeup artist, now could be the time to begin filling your calendar!
Stay healthy and safe,

Black Lives Matter
We delayed our social media yesterday to respect #blackouttuesday,
so those voices could be amplified. Black lives matter.
Recap
We hope you are all staying healthy and well, and finding a way
to navigate through these times. We apologize for not sending out this week's newsletter last week – we had some technical difficulties.

Dual-Broadcast
Through our Instagram we have been going live with Swish List members,
and doing a small interview. We have the questions prepared in advance,
and you are aware of them, so you can have some time to review what we will
be discussing. In a brief 20-30 minute chat, you can put yourself out there to all types
of new clients through our network, and it is so fun!
We have thoroughly enjoyed connecting with you all online, and hope
to continue with these Dual Broadcasts. If you have not yet reached out to
put your name on the list, email us.
Help Your Community
If feels like we are always helping our community these days, but perhaps there
is a little more we can do. As we all know, some businesses are able to reopen, and some have never stopped. We can try to support those who are able to be working by ordering curb-side fresh flowers, wine, cake, or take-out.
If you are a business that is not yet able to reopen, maybe reach out to these businesses and find a creative way to collaborate with them! Offer a special that might include a bottle of wine with a session later, or gift certificates towards something in the future as a way to give yourself some momentum too!
Our hope is to inspire some new ideas during this time, and we are also open to any of your ideas! Feel free to email us any ideas you might have and we can research more and share them with our community!
Have a great Wednesday!
Stay healthy and safe,

NEWSLETTER // 2020 CLEAR CALENDAR, EMPTY BANK ACCOUNT... NOW WHAT?!
This global pandemic has hit some industries harder than others – with wedding and events being one of the losers, not just because of the timing being at the cusp of wedding season, but with the uncertainty around rescheduling for so many couples, having to re-coordinate vendors and manage deposits/refunds.
photography by: Megan Jeanine Photo
This global pandemic has hit some industries harder than others – with wedding and events being one of the losers, not just because of the timing being at the cusp of wedding season, but with the uncertainty around rescheduling for so many couples, having to re-coordinate vendors and manage deposits/refunds.
As a business owner in the wedding industry, you’ve likely spent many stressful hours coordinating with clients, discussing refunds or rescheduling, and worried about what impact this is going to have on your overall bottom line. Not only are you without an income for these few months, but you’re deferring these clients that you’ve worked hard to book with you until later dates leaving little space for new bookings (and new deposits).
It’s important during this time to not only manage your business and operations well, but to recognize the opportunity to set yourself apart amongst your competitors. All you have is time right now, so determine how you’re going to invest that time in your business. There are 3 key areas to consider:
1) Take care of your own house first
Before you can appropriately focus on reinvestment in your business, get your own house in order. This should include closely examining your current income and regular expenses. Are there expense areas you can cut? Is there dated equipment collecting dust in the closet you can sell? What do you need to be doing to collect financial assistance? (put reminders in your calendar so you don’t fall behind on reporting) To learn more about mastering your cashflow, I invite you to read a recent blog post, “Mastering Your Crisis Cashflow” (https://wallace-solutions.com/mastering-your-crisis-cashflow/)
2) Don’t shy away from the money conversations
These are interesting times, and unless you had a strict “natural disaster/pandemic” refund clause in your contract, you may have to work with clients on refunds or rescheduling that extends beyond your normal practice. Being flexible and understanding of the change in a client’s financial or personal circumstances will definitely get you word of mouth referrals from that client and their family. If you’re difficult and not willing to work with someone, you’ll only have negative backlash on the other side. Yes, you’re a small business and have bills to pay too, but sometimes you need to take the hit for the future life of your business. That’s just a “cost of doing business” when times are unprecedented like we’re seeing now. Air Canada is burning $20million daily right now being shut down – be thankful you may only have a few refunds to provide.
The money conversation goes both ways – refunds AND sales. Do not be afraid to have a sales conversation with someone right now. Remember that while many are experiencing financial implications as a result of COVID-19, there are so many more who are not. There are people who may have time right now to sit with their partner and plan their wedding or event for late 2020 or 2021. Think of all the fiancés who can’t escape the planning right now because they can’t leave the house! Many people’s jobs are not at risk, and some companies are even flourishing right now. People will still want to have events. It’s just a matter of timing, so don’t be afraid to book those conversations, and to follow up on inquiries that had been made in the past to see if their plans have changed.
3) Review your existing marketing plan
Things have changed, that’s for sure. (If we all had a dollar for every time we heard that phrase these days, we’d be millionaires!) You’ve likely already reviewed your scheduled marketing to make adjustments for appropriateness, but take a look at what content you can be putting out into the universe of your ideal client right now to assist THEM. No matter what your business, your ideal client is likely feeling some sort of added stress or concern right now. It may not be financial, so ask yourself… how can you serve them? How can you step up and be the best support for them right now where your specialty/business is concerned? Is it providing them with wedding crisis management material? If you’re a pro at juggling people in planning and executing an event, maybe put out a “Planning your busy household” helper. Think about providing them with some comic relief or reality check by sharing “disaster stories” from previous events you’ve worked on (“it could always be worse…”). Think about creating shareable content that they can forward on to their friends and family. Get creative and set yourself apart from your competitors. Remember that there’s still lots of potential for new business out there, and how your brand behaves right now can tell a potential client a lot about what it would be like to work with you.
Of course, there are many additional activities you can do in your business right now, from resetting your goals, reviewing your packages, revamping any digital content, and looking at strategy for the future success of your business, but these are just a few nuggets for you to consider today.
Remember that this too shall pass, and while not everyone will emerge unscathed how you take advantage of the opportunities now can make or break the rest of your year and next year’s wedding season. Once business is back, sit down with your financial professional and make sure that you can plan a contingency or crisis management plan for your business AND your personal finances. This will help you find peace of mind should there ever be a required pause to your business in the future.
I’m here to help YOU so if you have questions about managing your finances through this, bringing back your business with success, future financial crisis management planning, or anything in between feel free to book a free call with me at your earliest convenience.

Hey Swish Listers,
We have a quick one for you this week, but this can be one of the most effective things you can do to get recognized through our network + followers: write a guest blog post!
If you are sitting there thinking that you would not know what to write about, just stop and think about the questions your couples ask you in your first meeting – those are the golden nuggets we are looking for! It doesn't have to be the most scholarly written post, we have an incredible writer here that will finesse any areas that may need some polish.
So, put your thinking cap on and send something over. Oh, and don’t forget to include around 5 images with photographer credits if you have some handy. Behind the scenes shots are always interesting for our readers, but if they are photos from weddings you have worked on, that's great too!
Happy Wednesday!

NEWSLETTER // 2020 COMMUNITY + NETWORKING
With more downtime than usual, we hope that you are taking advantage and implementing some of the marketing tips we have shared so far, alongside some of your own.
Hello, friends! We hope you are well and are staying healthy and safe while we navigate the crazy waters of the COVID-19 pandemic. We keep waking up hoping it was all a bad dream, and then it’s back to reality!
With more downtime than usual, we hope that you are taking advantage and implementing some of the marketing tips we have shared so far, alongside some of your own. This week, we wanted to chat with you about reaching out to your community for help: people love nothing more than to be able to help out friends and family, but sometimes it is up to us to ask for support. They may not know you are in a tough place within your industry, or that there is anything they can do to help without it costing them money. We are here to tell you there are a number of things you can ask people to do, that won’t cost them anything but time.
A quick way to build up your business for future bookings is by reaching out to past clients to leave you a review. We suggest you prepare a templated email if you do not already have one, and edit the introduction to customized it for the couple, family, or client that you sent it to, in order to add a personal touch. There is nothing wrong with being honest and revealing that during this time your hands are tied on what you can do, but getting reviews on any social platform you use would be so helpful.
Another way to solidify your community network is by reaching out to vendors you haven’t chatted with in a while, or someone you wanted to ask out for a coffee. We can still do this virtually, and as a lot of people have time on their hands, they will likely welcome the invite! Connect over Skype, Zoom, or the phone and have a chat with like-minded professionals or 'friendors' – staying in touch during this time is essential, even if it is to just check-in and see how they are doing!
Setting up group Mastermind sessions is another way to keep your networking strong, and we have already seen some vendors in the area doing this. Having accountability during this time can be crucial to keeping you on track with goals that might feel harder to achieve these days.
Thank you for your continued support during this time, and as always, we hope you will reach out with any feedback or support you may require – we're happy to help in any way we can!

We have decided to start this process by interviewing one new vendor each week during this wild state of our businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please reach out to us if you wish to get your name in the queue by just replying to this newsletter. Interviews will be approximately 30 minutes in length.
In advance, we will share a “Save The Date” within our stories to ensure our viewers are able to check back and watch live. As well, we will be asking them to chime in with their questions in order to have some prepared content for you in advance. During the broadcast, we will moderate any incoming questions and ask them on behalf of our viewers.
Any vendor that decides to partake will have a few minutes at the beginning of the broadcast to introduce their business, prior to the interview.
And lastly, we will also save a clip of the interview in our highlights and upload the full interview to IGTV so potential clients can reach out and watch when they can!
We hope you are as excited as we are to roll out this membership perk as it's just the beginning of our new social media strategy!

We want to make sure that we are contributing and giving back as much as we can as well. We want to do our part in offering some additional support during this time and have decided we will be extending every Swish List membership for 3 months.
Hello Swish Listers!
We hope that you are all staying healthy and safe while finding ways to manage during the COVID-19 pandemic – what a wild ride we're on!
During this time we are continuing to work, however, you may experience some delays as we all are now without childcare. We encourage you to keep sending in submissions so we can continue to inspire and share beautiful imagery and promote your business for those planning events in the future.
From a business perspective, we recommend that you are speaking with your insurance companies, reviewing your contracts, and speaking with your clients about what is currently happening/what might potentially happen in the coming months. All we can do is stick together, keep the lines of communication open, and keep passing on as much gratitude and positivity as we can right now.
Having said all of that, we want to make sure that we are contributing and giving back as much as we can as well. We want to do our part in offering some additional support during this time and have decided we will be extending every Swish List membership for 3 months.
What does this mean for you?
To those members who have an annual or quarterly renewal coming up, we will push your date back for 3 months.
What do you have to do for this?
Nothing. We have already started this change for you in our system. Any invoices due within the next 3 months (April 1st to June 1st) will be delayed along with any subsequent payments after that.
We want to thank you all for your support and hope that you continue to thrive as much as you can for 2020!
Stay well,

NEWSLETTER // DECEMBER 2019
How is it possible that another year has come and gone, taking with it another successful celebration of The First Look wedding show here in beautiful Niagara. It started with a dream to transform the brand new event space at Ravine Vineyard, our host venue, into a place that felt warm and cozy yet bustling with energy, and little by little the details stitched themselves together to do just that. The intimacy of The First Look is something we here at Vineyard Bride take seriously, and we never want the show to feel so big that we lose that comfortable, casual feeling.

Every exhibitor put their best foot forward creating their displays and booths, coming together to provide our guests with a spectacular show of forward-thinking, elegant, top-notch details and designs. Everything was simply lovely, and our guests continually commented on how pretty the show was — we are so grateful to our vendors for providing this experience for our attendees!
