Engagement Session at Detour Café in Paris, Ontario

Some engagement sessions are planned down to the last detail. Others unfold a little more spontaneously, and end up feeling like an adventure of their own. For Kristin and Guy, what started with coffee and a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens eventually took them to Paris, Ontario, and one of their favourite cafés.

Their session with Rose Quartz Imagery became a full-day experience, moving from gardens and greenery to the cozy setting of Detour Café. And while the locations may not have been exactly what they had planned, the result feels personal, relaxed, and very much like them.

A Little Adventure Along the Way

Kristin and Guy began their engagement session with a stop at a cozy café before heading to the Royal Botanical Gardens, where gardens, foliage, and plenty of greenery provided a natural backdrop for their photos. When the RBG turned out to be busier than expected, they simply changed course and continued the adventure in Paris.

How to make an Engagement Session Personal

An engagement session doesn't have to revolve around finding one perfect location. In fact, choosing places that are meaningful to you can make the experience feel much more natural. Maybe that's the park where you walk your dog, the neighbourhood where you had your first apartment, or-as it was for Kristin and Guy-your favourite café.

Kristin and Guy's session is a good reminder that engagement photos don't have to follow a formula. Sometimes the best sessions are the ones that leave a little room to wander, make a change of plans, and spend time in places that feel like your own.

A Cozy Café Engagement Session

Tucked inside a charming little market in Paris, Detour Café was a fitting final stop for Kristin and Guy. As one of their favourite places, it brought a more personal and relaxed feeling to the session, with the café setting adding something a little different from the usual engagement-photo backdrop.

And that's part of what makes incorporating a café into an engagement session so appealing. You don't need a sweeping landscape or perfectly manicured garden to create beautiful photographs. A familiar place can offer atmosphere, personality, and plenty of opportunities for natural moments together.
