WEDDING PLANNING AMONGST COVID-19: THE UNINVITED GUEST
Every once in a while an unexpected guest shows up to a wedding and puts a damper on an otherwise perfect day of celebrations. They indulge a little too much at the open bar, get a little too handsy with one of the bridesmaids, and, inevitably end up being escorted out by one of the groomsmen; that guest sounds a lot like COVID-19.

In a time of such uncertainty and opinions, advice and data coming at us from every direction, we find it challenging to make plans on a day-to-day level nevermind months and even years in advance and for one of the greatest days of our lives!
With the whole world learning as we go and navigating ourselves through the inconvenience of COVID-19, we thought it would be helpful to put together some tips and things to consider if you yourself or someone you love is planning a wedding amongst the pandemic we are being faced with.
communication is key
It goes without saying that having an open line of communication with your wedding vendors throughout the entire planning process is key to the success of your event, however, never has this been more vital than it is during this time. Ensuring you have reviewed all your contracts and have any questions addressed, specifically around cancellation policies and insurance, is going to be the best way to get ahead of unforeseeable situations in times when decisions need to be made in urgency.
social distancing your meetings
The number of appointments, consultations, menu tastings, and site visits leading up to the wedding only intensify as the date approaches. If and when possible, arrange for Skype or phone meetings as a way to keep the in-person contact to a minimum and safety to a maximum. This feels like it can impede on the rapport you might enjoy building with your vendors, but in the end, we will all come through this in an unprecedented way that will connect us unlike any experience before.
is flexibility a possibility?
Although it’s the last resort and completely unideal, is it possible to move your wedding date? For those getting married in the coming weeks and months, this option feels even more overwhelming and highly unfair, however, if your venue is making the decision to close their doors until the virus clears and is offering a full refund for those who choose to cancel all together or push the date out, this could be something to consider. If your guests and all of your vendors are able to accommodate this decision, you could relieve a great deal of stress and worry, allowing you to enjoy your day even more so, when it comes.
