Megan and Matt chose to have an intimate wedding ceremony at their family vineyard in Vineland, Ontario. The couple wanted to keep things low maintenance and simple in order to really enjoy the finer parts of the day with those closest to them. The bride got ready in the attic bedroom of the old farm house settled between the vines, while her family set up a long banquet table under the whitewashed front porch for supper. The ceremony was held in a small white tent on the front lawn, with the family farm dogs and animals roaming about, and the vineyard guard falcon making an off-duty appearance for the family photographs. The bride wore a simple wrap dress ornamented with a bouquet and flower crown she made herself out of dried and fabric grasses, flowers, and branches. Even the couple's rings were handmade and designed to perfectly reflect their lives together. Finally, after the photographs, as the wind picked up and the clouds rolled in, everybody gathered on the porch for cocktails with local cheeses, fruits, and oysters before sitting down to a large family-style summer. The meal was thoughtfully crafted by local chefs using local ingredients, and creatively married the bountiful summer produce of Canada's Niagra region, with recipes that reflected the groom's heritage from the American south. Southern cornmeal biscuits were enjoyed alongside a Niagara peach salad as guests watched warm and dry from the porch as the skies opened in a beautiful Ontario summer thunderstorm.
