A short description of what you do: Mara and her team at Wilde Hair make hair and makeup dreams a reality! Our main goal is always to ensure that all of our brides feel comfortable, confident and – of course – a little bit "Wilde."
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? 21 years.
What makes your business unique? Mara and her team have a passion for hair and the beauty industry, keeping current with up to date trends and techniques while applying vast knowledge of prestige skincare and cosmetics. This makes certain all of our brides look and feel their best on their big day along with the days to come by using cosmetics that heal and nourish the skin rather than clogging up pores. Mara's easy-going demeanour helps calm even the most anxious brides assuring the best day ever begins without a hitch!
Favourite part of your business? Meeting new and inspiring people. Mara is very much a people-person and loves to make new connections. Getting to be part of such an important day in peoples' lives makes the job that much more enjoyable.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? (your own industry or the Niagara wedding industry) Mara finds her greatest mentors among her own Wilde Hair team. It's great to have a team that will work together and keep each other motivated!
On your day off...where would we find you? When not in the salon or doing a mobile service, Mara loves to travel and spend time with her family. She particularly loves to relax and soak up the sun in Mexico and Las Vegas.
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? If Mara was unable to help brides make their hair and makeup dreams come true, she would probably own a Bed & Breakfast somewhere in the country. The idea of having a place for others to come to escape and relax sounds like the perfect job (and perhaps is what she already does)!
What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? This year we're seeing a lot of brides going with softer, more natural looks. Enhancing their own natural beauty while staying true to themselves.
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Book in advance! Make sure you pick your vendors and book them early. If you're wanting to do a hair and/or makeup trial ensure you book that sooner rather than later as well so you're not left disappointed!
