VENDOR SPOTLIGHT // THE HARE WINE CO.
Today's Swish List vendor spotlight is with Laura, venue coordinator of The Hare Wine Co., a beautiful new wedding venue in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and home to last autumn's The First Look Wedding show. Join us in welcoming Laura to the blog!
A short description of what you do:I am the Event Coordinator at The Hare Wine Co. here in Niagara-on-the-Lake. My job is to support Brides and Grooms with planning their wedding day as well as plan our winery events that are open to the public to attend.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? Just over 2 years now.
What makes your business unique? The Hare Wine Co. is one of Niagara-on-the-Lake's newest wineries, opening its doors in October 2016. It's industrial, but elegant architecture is unlike any other winery in the area. With repurposed materials used in the building of the winery, The Hare has an old European feel while still being a new experience people have yet to try. The courtyard is extremely unique to our winery, and it can be used as a beautiful space for a wedding creating an open-air dining experience.
Favourite part of your business? The family that is The Hare Wine Co.! We all collaborate and work together to make every experience better than the last for our guests. We're consistently learning and trying new things when it comes to events at the winery, seeing what works and what doesn't. I hardly ever have to say no to Bride or Groom when they request something unique and different because we always want to try something new!
What inspires you? Photography. I love seeing photos of interior design, vineyards, architecture, weddings, people...the list goes on! I love taking photos too (even though I'm horrible at it!) I just love the idea of witnessing something special through a different lens or different angle. I'm continuously challenging myself to do the same, to rearrange things over and over to get it just right, to envision a Bride or Groom's dream and make it come true.
On your day off...where would we find you? Spending time with family and friends, or more than likely, back in Wine Country touring other wineries!
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I think I would love to be involved in some way with interior design and decor.
What are great wedding trends you seeing this year? A lot of Brides I'm working with are wanting to add a bit more to their after dinner reception, maybe changing up the space from dinner to dancing. They are loving that separation and the surprise factor that comes with a new space for dancing. And the dark and moody floral colours - I'm loving this! The deep violets and mauve alongside the rich greens are just so beautiful!
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Sit down with one another and talk about what your wedding means to you and what you both envision for the day, then go off of that and that alone. So many times others opinions or ideas get thrown into the mix and Brides and Grooms end up confused or lose touch with their dream wedding. Listen and take note of what other people give as advice, but at the end of the day, this is your day and your wedding, so go with what makes you happy. Don't worry about pleasing everyone, because there's no way you ever will! (Words I try to live by daily!)
