VENDOR SPOTLIGHT // PHILOSOPHY STUDIOS
Today on the blog we are going behind the scenes with Eva of Philosophy Studios!
Eva is our Communications Director and Editor here at Vineyard Bride. In addition to this role, she runs her own photography studio called, Philosophy Studios, has a small greeting card business, and, is a partner of a co-working space, The Brickwork. As if that isn't enough, Eva is a mom and one of the genuinely nicest souls and the kindest of friends. She is so dear to us and we are thrilled for you to get to know more about her!
A short description of what you do: We are a wedding photography team that specializes in capturing timeless imagery and authentic moments, worldwide. We find the best light and play with our clients to elicit true laughter and smiles, to let any awkward vibes melt away.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? Collectively over 35 years. 15 is the longest.
Favourite part of your business? Christmas shopping for our clients!
What inspires you? I am inspired by nature in capturing my own photographs and pulling in those elements. But as a business owner, I am inspired by our clients. I want to give them a great experience and allow their wedding day, and the experience leading up to the wedding to be easy, fun and enjoyable, so we make ourselves available to help with advice, etc. to hopefully make that happen.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? I am honestly not sure I have 1 specific person. I look to a lot of different vendors, on IG, who I think are killing it, and strive to elevate our business to their level.
On your day off...where would we find you? Home with my husband Aaron and son Radcliffe, renovating something, spending time outdoors, or curled up on the couch watching movies with Rad.
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? Running my own cafe/bake shop in Italy.
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? It is so easy to get caught up in the planning process, which can get overwhelming, hiring a planner would be the easiest piece of advice, but it isn't always feasible. If that is the case, then to just list out which vendor categories are most important to have, and start with 1 at a time, meet with 3 people, and hire someone you feel a connection with, before moving onto the next category.
When it comes to photography specifically, be sure you are hiring a company or someone you know you can trust. Read reviews, ask around - I read a new story each week of a photographer not being able to be reached or does a no-show for a couple's wedding and it breaks my heart. This should not ever have to happen, but sadly it does. The photographs will last the longest if done correctly, so do your research.
