VENDOR SPOTLIGHT // LUSH FLORALS AND EVENTS

Hiya Mel! Can you tell our readers a little about Lush Florals and Events?  We provide romantic and botanical inspired floral design for weddings and events. We help to curate the perfect look for your event based on your aesthetic and venue. Our work provides the artistic backdrop to your love story.

How long have you been working in the wedding industry? Lush was formed in 2007

What makes your business unique? We love to work with layers of texture and softness, romance combined with nature. We enjoy creating a unique wedding experience with our blossoms catered to each bride and wedding location.

Favourite part of your business? The delivery is my favourite. Handing the bride her bouquet is a bit like giving away a tiny part of yourself. The anxiousness and nervousness is still there after the hundreds of weddings we have worked on. Seeing that reaction and the joy is the ultimate reward.

What inspires you? Nature! I love the strong contrast of textures and colours in our outdoor spaces. The changing colours of fall, the fresh green of spring, it all breaths life into me and my work.

Who is your mentor/hero in the industry?  Bash Please out of LA really speaks to me in their designs. They are amazing florists, unique stylists and have developed one on the most funky wedding shows: The Cream Event. I am also lucky enough to be learning under another fabulous floral and design team; Sinclaire and Moore this spring. Pinch me...am I dreaming?

On your day off...where would we find you? Spending time with my little family skating, watching movies, exploring outdoors. I also am in love with Niagara wine country. Time spent wine tasting, eating fabulous food and relaxing with friends is a favorite.

If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I think I would have loved to teach some aspect of horticulture at my alma mater Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture. I have a great love for anything green and growing and it would be amazing to spark that in another. Maybe one day they will add floral design to the curriculum.

Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Choose a wedding vendor who's work speaks to you, plain and simple. You also need to feel comfortable with your vendors. I feel that the most fabulous events we work on, our couples allowed us creative freedom and they were left speechless.
