VENDOR SPOTLIGHT // CATHY DAVIS & COMPANY
Happy Thursday Friends! A warm welcome to Cathy for this week's Vendor Spotlight Interview. Cathy... will you tell us a little about what you do?
We officiate at weddings, celebration of life and new life celebrations. Bringing meaningful ceremonies to people in a professional manner.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? That is a tricky one for me... over 20 years in the hospitality industry and over 11 years doing services. I started officiating weddings in Niagara 5 years ago and now have a large team of officiants in the area.
What makes your business unique? That we never do the same ceremony twice! We are professional and always arrive at the ceremony early and are not running off to another wedding ceremony right away. We dedicate time to making this the most amazing day of your life.
Favourite part of your business? Getting to pronounce couples married, and being next to the groom when he sees his bride for the very first time!
What inspires you? Keeping things fresh and new, following new trends in the Industry and finding new interesting ways to make ceremonies unique.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? I meet once a month with a group of amazing powerhouse women in the Industry that all run their own businesses...they know who they are! We are able to help each other with whatever it is we are struggling with to make our businesses better with no attitude or judgement, it is amazing to have them to bounce ideas off of~ and get an honest answer, not just what I want to hear!
On your day off...where would we find you?
I am lucky enough to live by the lakefront trail and love to walk there every day with my puppy Ginny the golden retriever... even if I don't take whole days off, I get a little bit of time every day!
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I am really doing my dream job now.... when I am retired I would love to earn a little spare cash travelling the world and writing about it or assessing hotel properties and writing about that!
What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? Navy suits, continuation of classy vintage weddings, weddings in the round.
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Keep it simple, don't get lost in your planning. At the end of the day, this is one day in your life (that will go by much faster than a Christmas morning in childhood!), there will be thousands more that will be equally amazing together. Keep things in perspective!
