When two lawyers fall in love, it only makes sense they tie the knot in a place that feels like home, and no one could object to their choice (so how we did that?) to wed at the Old Courthouse in Old Town Niagara on the Lake, a place that feels incredibly special and sacred to them.

When Jaime and I were planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to get married in Niagara-on-the-Lake; going to NOTL is a tradition for Jaime and I – somewhere we love to go so much, we call it our “happy place.” With that said, we did not want the traditional winery wedding, we wanted something that felt a little more unique, and from the first moment we walked into The Old Courthouse, we knew that it was the perfect venue for us.

First off, we are both lawyers, so getting married at The Old Courthouse was pretty perfect. But more than that, the feeling of the space is so different from anywhere we had ever been for a wedding. The building is beautifully old fashioned with a bright feel, and despite the high ceilings and large space – complete with a dome opening in the pink room – it feels almost quaint inside. Like you are entering someone’s big and gorgeous home; you really feel like you are part of history getting married in such an iconic landmark on NOTL’s Queen Street.

With all of that said, it was really hard for me to find publications of weddings that took place there, which made inspiration hunting a bit challenging. I was a little worried that because there was such a lack of published weddings that took place there, that I had made a mistake in picking the location. Turns out our wedding was nothing short of magical! I credit full heartedly all of my wonderful vendors for making my vision come to life, many of whom are based in NOTL. We couldn’t have been happier to get married there!”
