LEGENDS ESTATE WINERY SUMMER ANNIVERSARY // SHANNON + JEFF
Furniture + Decor Rentals: Warehouse 84 | Florals: Mint and Magnolia
A little background story from Madison Rose Photography:
"A lot can change in two years. A new hairstyle, a new job. A new home, even a new baby. I feel the goal of any anniversary session is to capture and celebrate the balance of how even love changes - it grows in ways you never knew possible, evolves and matures. Yet, if Jeff and Shannon's anniversary session is any indication, it also stays young, exciting and new.
Little details from their wedding day were sprinkled through the shoot, such as the beautifully handwritten copies of the couple's vows and the locket with her new initials that Jeff gave Shannon on their wedding day. We wanted to create a vibe somewhere between a romantic Parisian picnic and a relaxed California vineyard. Greenery - the Pantone colour of the year - played an important role in this, decorating each table and setting the scene in the vineyard while the greys and blues of the colour palette kept things feeling classically elegant."
From Shannon, the bride:
"What we’ve learned above all else: communication is definitely number one. It's so easy to assume that your significant other should know what you're thinking or remember something you mentioned six months ago. You might not always agree with your spouse, but open, honest communication is most definitely the key to understanding each other’s thoughts and emotions, especially in those tense moments.
I would have found it comical to say a few years ago, but it really is worth understanding yours and your partners “Love Languages”. Understanding how you and your spouse each prefer to show and receive affection is an interesting conversation that was surprisingly beneficial to have. In addition, working together to reach your goals and dreams as a couple while also still supporting each other’s own personal interests and goals is equally beneficial. This goes hand-in-hand with continuing to be your own person, which for us has included keeping up with friendships and pursuing hobbies and interests that are important to ourselves.
When schedules fill up, taking the time to go on dates and do thoughtful things for one another keeps the other person knowing you still care. Remember that your wedding day doesn't have to be the only 'best day of your life', and that the future may hold many of those days that you get to share together."
