Kurtz Orchards Wedding // Ali + Zach
This Niagara wedding is going to be the best part of your day. Beautifully captured by Ash Nayler, Ali and Zach's Kurtz Orchards nuptials are the quintessence of wine country charm. Between exchanging vows at the base of two towering trees and dining al fresco under a canopy of orchard leaves, this day was wedding perfection. And, according to Ali, it was! Don't miss her sweet notes after the photos.
From Ali:
Our wedding was so very “us” in every way possible. Doing a DIY wedding was a lot of work, but it definitely paid off and made the day that much more personable. We had a long time to plan our wedding so time was on our side but we still somehow ended up pulling quite a few late nights leading up to the big day. Friends and family pitched in wherever they could, my grandma made the drapes for the trees, Zach’s tie, the groomsmen's bowties as well as hemmed the bridesmaids dresses. My mum sewed the bridesmaids rompers, tied tulle on countless jars, made the table runners and helped arrange the flowers. Zach hand stamped every seating card and made our LOVE marquee light. Friends helped with the chalkboards, bunting signs and stamping of napkins. A high school friend turned University roommate made all the cupcakes. There isn’t a piece of our wedding that wasn’t touched with love.
It was all worth it. Combined with the fairytale background that is Kurtz and the blessing of perfect weather, it all led to the most magical day possible. There is no way to pick a favourite moment because they were all so special. My friends from kindergarten surprised me by paying for the string quartet (my biggest princess wedding dream!) and hearing them play as I walked towards a very emotional Zach is something I will never forget. During the ceremony, our friends sang and spoke and we wrote our own vows which was incredibly romantic. After the ceremony Zach and I snuck away for some alone time which was so precious, and it was my turn for tears! As we took photos we could hear our friends and families (who had travelled from England, Ireland, Western Canada and all over the States) laughter ring out as they played lawn games. We didn’t stop smiling for one second the entire day. Our first dance under the lights felt like a dream or like something out of a movie (“Turning Page” by sleeping at last). Zach and I were so present with one another and it was like every single other person disappeared. I still sometimes have to remind myself that this day was actually real. We kept using the word “ethereal” to describe everything and I think that is bang on. It was everything we had hoped it would be and so much more. A true fairytale and the perfect way to start our life as Husband and Wife.
