KURTZ ORCHARDS ENGAGEMENT // JANA + MATTHEW

This Kurtz Orchards engagement session from Hello Inspira Photography is more than meets the eye! The summery inspiration of this styled set captured our hearts and, we're practically drooling over the luscious blooms from Quill and Oak

From Jenn and Kevin:

When Jana and Matt told us about their proposal story, we couldn't help but suggest they reenact their proposal setting at Kurtz Orchard. Kurtz Orchard is the place where Jana used to visit during her summer with her Mom and Grandma. Thus, to Matt, this place holds a special value in Jana and he would like to continue bringing the history into their relationship. These two celebrated their fifth anniversary and Matt planned a whole day of winery bike tour which ended in Kurtz Orchard where they had their lunch and Matt got down on one knee to spend forever with Jana. While putting together their engagement shoot, Kei from Quill and Oak and us could only think of the Midsummer Bohemian Picnic setting. Kei chose the floral from locally grown sources and described it perfectly: Every stem used in this bride's dramatic bouquet and opulent centrepiece were grown locally - that is within 50 miles of our Hamilton-based floral studio. Between four varieties of garden roses, delicate chantilly snaps and sweet peas and lush ninebark and raspberry foliage, growers in Toronto, Hamilton and Niagara are represented here. They come together perfectly in the orchard setting - organic and earthy but sophisticated and refined. In the past "locally grown" flowers has meant wild flowers arranged in a rustic, country-style. As a result of the slow flower movement more small scale flower farmers have been coming on the southern Ontario scene and are offering varieties that go far beyond field-grown daisies. In this shoot we took our local blooms and created a rich colour palette and lush arrangements. For Eco-friendly brides that are concerned about the environmental impact of imported flowers but also want a refined look, working with a floral designer that is committed to using local products and has good relationships with local growers is imperative. Local flowers, many of which are grown organically, offer a great alternative to other non-flower options like paper or silk flowers often considered by Eco-friendly brides. Fresh flowers remind us of fleeting beauty. Like our beautiful Canadian summers and your action-packed wedding day, they remind you to stop and appreciate them in this very moment.
