VENDOR SPOTLIGHT // CATHY DAVIS AND CO
Today we are spending some time getting to know our friend and wedding officiant Cathy of Cathy Davis and Company! Cathy has been a part of the Vineyard Bride family for years and we adore her and her entire team of wedding professionals! Welcome, Cathy!
A short description of what you do: Provide meaningful, personalized beautiful ceremonies to celebrate life and love.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? 25+ years. 8 years as an officiant
What makes your business unique? 'Uniquely You' a portion of our website that is dedicated to providing literally hundreds of combinations of what your wedding ceremony could look like. We are professional and detail oriented with a concierge mindset. We are here to ensure that all the details of the ceremony are communicated to the vendors we will be working with. We deliver exceptional professionalism in all that we do, are on time, enjoy meeting with you and hearing your love stories and sharing them.
Favourite part of your business? Getting to pronounce that you are married!
What inspires you? The creativity of other vendors and the ever changing trends and new exciting ideas that we can bring to ceremonies! We never want to do the same ceremony twice! There is so much beauty in Niagara- we are always at new locations with views of vineyards, beautiful scenery or the Toronto Skyline across the waters of Lake Ontario.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? Oh my... so many to mention. I am so proud to be a founding member and past chair/current chair of wedding networking groups in Niagara one of which is now over 650 members. Niagara wedding vendors are more like my best friends and family at this point and look forward to connecting with them often to share ideas and encourage each other on a regular basis. My very first group that I regularly did a small group meeting with included the girls from Vineyard Bride, Simply Beautiful, Bloom and Co and the Venue Counsellor- all super inspiring!
On your day off...where would we find you? Anywhere near water, toes in the sand preferably or walking my two golden retrievers.
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? Secret shopper/writer in the hospitality industry travelling the world!
What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? We have had no choice but to see beautiful elopement and micro weddings and have been honoured to be part of several pop-up wedding days doing multiple ceremonies at the same location on the same day back to back. We have seen people being super creative with how they are entertaining their guests at the reception without dancing to how gorgeous backyards have been manicured for all these backyard elopements!
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Be flexible and know that it doesn't have to be perfect! The more creative freedom and trust you can provide your vendors the more fun it is to do what we do best and make your day magical!
