What To Look For in a Wedding Florist
experience
Experience is one of the most crucial factors when choosing a wedding florist. A seasoned floral designer will have the knowledge and skills necessary to bring your vision to life. They will also be able to offer valuable advice on what flowers will work best with your chosen colour scheme, venue, and season.
design style
Every florist has their own unique design style, so it’s essential to find someone whose aesthetic matches your own. Take the time to browse through a florist’s portfolio and see if their past work resonates with you. This will give you a better idea of what to expect from them and ensure that your wedding flowers reflect your personal style.
availability
It’s crucial to confirm that the florist you’re interested in is available on your wedding date. Some popular florists may be booked well in advance, so it’s important to reach out and inquire about their availability as soon as possible.
budget
Wedding flowers can be a significant expense, so it’s essential to discuss your budget with potential florists upfront. This will help you determine whether they are a good fit for your needs and prevent any unexpected costs from arising later on. Keep in mind that experienced florists may be able to offer cost-saving alternatives or work within your budget to create a stunning floral display.

How far in advance should a client reach out to you when planning wedding or special event? 12 months.
Is there anything a client should bring with them when attending a consultation? Couples should have firmed up their wedding date and venue, have begun to research a vision direction, a colour palette, and consider elements that are most important to them that they wish to include. They should also begin to gather inspirational images and/or create a Pinterest Board that best speaks to the wedding vibe they wish to achieve.
How should a client budget for your services? Is there a typical range they should keep in mind and are there some industry tips that can make their budget go farther? Florals and Decor can be one of the most expensive elements of a wedding day. While we generally suggest a floral and decor budget of 25% of their over all wedding budget — that doesn't always work for every couple. Some couples have more simplistic tastes while others more luxurious and love an abundance of florals and details. As no two weddings are ever alike — or couples for that matter — budgeting is a really personal decision and based on what a couple is comfortable spending.
Helpful planning tips: Invest in larger statement pieces rather than spreading your budget thin by having flowers and decor everywhere. Make planning your wedding flowers and decor a priority. Be flexible with your vision, and how it comes to life. It isn't always about checking everything off your wedding check list, but how you use those pieces you choose to move forward with.
