THE BLACKSTONES // VENDOR SPOTLIGHT
Today, we are really excited to go behind the scenes and share a spotlight feature with our newest Swish List members, The Blackstones. Located in Niagara Falls, The Blackstones are a Country & Rock band specializing in Weddings, Private Events and Corporate functions.
A short description of what you do: We're a versatile entertainment business that performs as both a Duo and a Band. Our core band consists of four members, but we can expand to as large as seven to include a female singer, fiddle, and keyboards. We have a very diverse repertoire, which allows us to accommodate all the client's needs, from Country and Rock songs to Top 40 modern hits. Whether it's a wedding, corporate function, or private event, we work closely with our clients to provide a customized experience that meets their specific needs and preferences.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? Twelve years.
What makes your business unique? Our business is unique because we understand that each event is different and has its own set of requirements; we strive for professionalism in everything we do, from our communication with clients to our performance on stage. We provide everything necessary to accommodate our clients' needs, including high-quality sound equipment, lighting, and a diverse repertoire of songs that can be customized to fit the theme and atmosphere of the event.
Our aim is to ensure that our clients feel at ease throughout the entire process, from the initial consultation to the day of the event. We have encountered every situation in music and business, and we understand the needs and requirements to make the client's day as smooth as possible. Our experience has taught us how to handle any unexpected situations that may arise, allowing our clients to relax and enjoy their special day.
Favourite part of your business? Being able to provide memorable experiences for our clients and their guests. Seeing people dance, sing along, and enjoy themselves because of our music is a great feeling that brings a lot of fulfillment for us as musicians and entertainers. Additionally, meeting new people, building relationships, and being a part of important moments in their lives is an incredibly rewarding aspect of the job.
What inspires you? Music has the ability to evoke emotions, connect people, and tell stories in a way that few other art forms can. For us, the joy of creating and performing music inspires us to continue pursuing it.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? We've picked up on how to do things from putting ourselves out there and seeing what works and what doesn't. Along the way, we've connected with awesome people (like Vineyard Bride) and are building connections and relationships. The Madhatters would be our musical heroes in the Niagara Music Scene.
On your day off...where would we find you? Spending time with our families, working on other projects we have going on, or rehearsing. Other than that we don't get many days off!
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? Haha! We are doing our dream job(s)! 3/4's of us do Music full time.
What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? Rustic barn weddings & outdoor vineyard weddings. Backyard/large property weddings are also trends we've picked up on!
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Try and do everything with as ahead of time with as much notice as you can provide. From a musician stand point, try not to overlook getting your dream band or DJ. If you're set on someone, chances are someone else also has their eye on them.
