OAST HOUSE BREWERY WEDDING IN NIAGARA ON THE LAKE // NIAGARA OAST HOUSE BREWERS

From Beth, Sparkle and Twine Event Planning and Decor —

“Our bride, Carrie and I connected at the end of February 2020. There was an instant rapport as we chatted about the idea of a gothic, Halloween inspired wedding to be hosted at Oast House Brewery in NOTL for her and fiancé, Matt. Carrie, an incredibly talented tattoo artist, has the most amazing enthusiasm for all things Halloween — and I mean, she LOVES Halloween. This was an easy wedding to get excited about. To say I had been looking forward to this wedding for the last two years would be an understatement. It didn’t take long to imagine a creative, tasteful and elegantly gothic celebration.”

Finally able to move forward as planned, we reconnected to create what was to be known as the ‘Black Celebration’ for October 1st, 2022. An intimate guest list made up of close family and friends were invited to a formal, black clothing only, dusk ceremony. This evolved into a perfectly spooky, glowing evening ceremony. For the ceremony space, I really wanted to capture the feeling of something you would find in an old cemetery for couple Carrie and Matt. Wooden stumps, carved pumpkins, glowing orbs, creepy branches and tons of pillar candles were must-haves to create the look. The vibe was completed by an amazing string performance by The Fox Duo, who reimagined heavy metal classics into the most elegant arrangements.

Having their first look happen at Old Lakeshore Cemetery was an absolute must, as well as creating the most amazingly carved classic pumpkins for a smoke bomb photo op. Bridesmaids carried candelabras in lieu of florals, and the bridal bouquet and altar arrangements were designed with the most incredibly moody florals from Feeder Flower Farm.

A candlelit dinner in The Hayloft at Oast House was followed by a spooky dance party, complete with a Halloween candy bar and cookie station from the Pie Plate in the brewery retail space. Derek, a dear friend of Carrie and Matt, kept the party going all night with a fun playlist featuring Depeche Mode, The Cure and Slayer. A magical evening? Yes… and a wedding celebration I will not soon forget… absolutely!
