BRYN + HARRISON // ENGAGEMENT SESSION
The only thing sweeter than this couple and their dreamy engagement session is their love story!

For Bryn and Harrison's engagement session - Ryan and I really wanted to slow down and embrace capturing Bryn's and Harrison's love story as real, genuine, and authentically as possible. We wanted to really embrace the story aspects of the day (from interviewing them at their new condo, to venturing the city streets, and taking a ferry to one of their favourite destination spots). We wanted to also tie in elements of their love story as one unity within their session (bringing some of their favourite things to do as a couple; snuggling, listening to their favourite band the Arkells, sipping on some vino, and venturing out into the big city and watching the sun dip over the Toronto Skyline - which was Harrison's favourite cityscape shots ).
Bryn and Harrison met on Tinder (on the first day Bryn downloaded the app.) "I was 18 and in first-year university living in residence. Harrison was 19 and taking a year off, living at home. I was new to this whole dating app concept so I sent anyone I matched with on that first day a simple “Hey”. Harrison and I instantly clicked when messaging back and forth. We talked every day in the app for a month without exchanging numbers or planning to meet up.
Then one day, exactly one month since we matched, I ordered a pizza from Panago when I knew he was working. He surprised me by writing his phone number on the back of the receipt! I texted him immediately and invited him over to a party we were having on my residence floor since he was done work early. When he showed up and we made eye contact I think my heart skipped a beat. He was shyer in person but I felt so comfortable in his presence that I didn’t want him to leave so I just talked non-stop until probably 3am.
We bonded over music and how we had both seen Arkells when they played at our university in the fall. After that night we went on a date to Starbucks and then started hanging out a couple of times a week. Harrison was planning to move to Halifax in the fall for school but after two months together he decided to stay in London and asked me to be his girlfriend. That was 7.5 years ago. Since then we’ve seen Arkells together in concert every year, graduated together on the same day, did long distances from Toronto to Ottawa when I was working and he was in teachers college. We love to travel and took our first international trip together that summer to New York City, which will also be the last trip we go on before we get married! We cycled through Europe after we finished school and spent every second together for three weeks. It was during that trip that we both realized we couldn’t imagine life without the other person. In fact, we often say we can’t believe there was a time when we didn’t know each other!
Harrison proposed to me last October. He had spotted the ring in an estate jewelry store window on his way home from work. We had decided on a second-hand ring for its sustainability and craftsmanship. He sent me the link to this one, which had all the elements I was looking for, a lot of really small intricate details, and I tried it on. He bought it the next week and couldn’t not tell me so I actually wore it for a whole night! Then he took it back and hid it, and a few weeks later I was caught off guard when I was on a walk with my friend and she led me to Union Station. I was wearing my track pants, running shoes, and university sweater! When I turned the corner Quitting You by Arkells started playing and Harrison stepped out behind a pillar in a full suit with a single rose. He asked me if I’d accept his rose, like in the bachelorette, and then I think we both blacked out. He had secretly invited a few of my friends to be there, so we could have a socially distanced celebration after.
We had so much fun taking our engagement photos. It was really nice to have time to just stare into each other’s eyes, kiss, and laugh. Although we kept being told to separate more! We were so happy with how they turned out, they capture our love so well, from the silly to the serious. We can’t wait to be married and continue on to the next chapter of our lives."
