How long have you been working in the wedding industry? Since 2016.
Favourite part of your business? My favourite moment is watching the bride & groom have their first dance. I always take a moment to sit and watch the happy faces, the exchange of simple kisses, and giggles as they glide across the dance floor. This is usually the first time within the day that they can be in the moment between themselves.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? I've always had a big dream of being able to join the Swish List, as many of the members have guided and inspired me throughout my years within this industry. I can't say there is one person who stands out from another, but just the overwhelming support the Swish List members have for each other and helping others achieve their goals and dreams!
On your day off...where would we find you? My cottage. As simple as that, I'm a cottage girl. I'm always my calmest when by the water, it's my time to step back from the crazy world of the wedding industry and truly take a moment to myself. I also won't lie, you may see me spoiling myself at a Starbucks here and there on my days off too!
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Don't follow trends! Trends are an awesome way to see what couples have been leaning towards in recent months leading up to your big day, and sometimes they can be a great fit for you but other times, they are not. Don’t lose yourself in the chaos of trends because, well, they change, and they change fast in this industry.
If you’re doing it for the sake of having a photo that will look exactly like someone else’s, you’re not being true to yourself. Instead of following trends, listen to what speaks to you and your partner, and your individual style. Your wedding should be a personal experience and what means the most to you is what is going to make your wedding that much more memorable and creative. Sentimental details, whether it is a specific menu or cocktails, catch-phrases the couple uses, hobbies sprinkled into signage & decor, are what creates a “uniquely yours” experience that all couples should explore while planning.
