Today we are spending some time getting to know Swish List member and friend, Leigh of Scintillate Events! She is such a sweet, kind, talented soul, and we love her and her work!
A short description of what you do: Scintillate Events is a luxe dessert table stylist specializing in alluring sweet tables and donut walls for large scale events in Niagara. Originating from a love of desserts, merged with creativity, design, and detail, we bring the sweet portion of your celebration to life. We believe that a great dessert sweetens life, and your desserts should look as good as they taste. Using only the finest local artisan desserts and candy, adorned with the trendiest décor and floral accents, Scintillate Events crafts a customizable and delicious wow factor for celebrating life’s sweetest occasions.
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? 5 sweet years!
What makes your business unique? We recognize that your special day is a reflection of you. Blending innovative and ever-changing trends, we offer an unwavering focus on your vision and customize entirely based on your wants and needs to compliment the taste and tone of your wedding day. We use a vast selection of desserts to create something unique and timeless, including many sweets that are vegan and allergy-friendly.
Favourite part of your business? The design aspect is really fun, but of course the sweet satisfaction of the finished dessert tablescape and overhearing your clients and their guests getting excited and gushing over your creation!
What inspires you? There are many things to be inspired by. For one, my Grandma was a truly inspiring lady. She taught me not to take life so seriously and to laugh more, something I will keep with me forever. Other things I find that most inspire me are deep meaningful conversations with positive and uplifting people (especially women in business), traveling, exercising outside, and the little things in life like a smile from a stranger, or a random act of kindness.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? There are so many amazing people I have met in the wedding industry, but I would definitely still have to say Angelica Sala from Simply Beautiful Decor. She was so welcoming to me in this industry, is so kind and helpful in so many ways, and always does the most beautifully inspiring weddings and events.
On your day off...where would we find you? My days off I love to look up elaborate recipes, run to the grocery store (once upon a time) and cook hearty meals for my husband. I also love to spoil my Pug Bullet by taking him for a walk, or for a car ride to the store for a surprise.
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I live the dream every day! My career background was the Dental industry where I spent 12 years and worked as a Dental Hygienist, and now I get to fully express my creativity, working with confectioneries. It doesn't get any better than that!
What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? More eco-friendly favours or charity donations in-lieu-of, high fashion wedding gowns, grazing tables, statement wedding decor, and edible flowers ~ something we offer as well!
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Yes! Please enjoy every moment; from engagement to the big day. Leave the details to the professional vendors, and just be present. Delight in your surroundings with your spouse and the important people you are with, and most of all have fun, it goes by so fast!
