A short description of what you do:  I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer, and truly an artist at heart. I think my background in fine art allows me to weave in a knowledge of light and composition with a unique flair. I’m always striving to produce photos that are honest and evoke feeling. I’m not fond of anything static or repetitive. I do love people and I think this comes through strongly in my photography as well. I’ve made a lot of wonderful friends along the way, which has been fun.

How long have you been working in the wedding industry? 14 years

What makes your business unique? I think people often instantly feel connected with me. Over and over again clients comment on how amazing it was to have me at their wedding and how much I felt like a family or a best friend. Working with a bride and groom all day is an animate and privileged position. I think it’s so important to consider when choosing a photographer.

Favourite part of your business? It may sound cheesy, but I love listening to speeches at a wedding. It’s a beautiful window into a family - the connections, the memories, all the love… I’m usually in tears (often during the ceremony too). I end up feeling so much love, almost like I'm apart of the family too ;)

What inspires you? I’m inspired by a lot of things; beautiful light, gorgeous florals, details, unique venues, and original ideas. However, I think my main inspiration comes from meeting beautiful couples and wanting to deliver a superior service that blows their mind.

Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? Hands down Elizabeth Messina. She is a photographer and a true artist. Her soft love for people and artistry shine through all her photos. She’s a legend.

On your day off...where would we find you? Spin class, followed by a latte at one of my favourite coffee shops while reading and being inspired by a book…

If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job?  Traveling the world producing and selling my art.

What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? I think more and more couples are moving away from empty traditions and sculpting the day the way they want. I think this is great. It makes the day so much more meaningful. It can be hard with family, but if possible I encourage my couples to take this approach.

Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding?  When choosing a photographer, aside from loving their work and style, make sure there is a connection. And secondly, try to be present on your wedding day. It’s true that it goes by so fast. Make tons of eye contact with your partner, be aware of each other, and be sure to laugh and have fun. These make the best photographs!
